I am 71 years old and five years ago I consulted Dr Poppy regarding unwanted weight gain. I acquired Hashimoto’s thyroiditis in my fifties somewhere and I had issues with constipation, high cholesterol, mild anemia unexplained and a family history of autoimmune disease. My mother had rheumatoid arthritis and my sister has fibromyalgia. I didn’t like how much weight I was gaining, 178 at my highest point. After a phone consultation with Dr. Poppy, she suggested that I try a gluten free diet. So in July, 2011 I went gluten free. My daughter I might add also was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis at age 15 and her son was diagnosed with Celiac disease at age 5. My weight began to drop quickly after changing my diet and within a few years, I was down to 145. Currently I am 135 lbs. and have stabilized there. I feel great and have had to buy new clothes. Went from a size 16 to a size 10. Attached are before and after pictures.
