Dr. Poppy's natural upbringing, raised by back-to-the-land organic gardeners, and her philosophy toward wellness and hormone balance, together have shaped her view of fertility, pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. She has great admiration, awe and faith in life and the birthing cycle. Life and birth are simple, yet complex, essentially instinctual yet sometimes complicated. Although she began a traditional medical path, her own births caused her to redefine her view of healthy birthing. She came to appreciate and value the time and attention that women receive from the natural birth community. She envisioned brining together the best of hormonal and nutritional medicine with the woman-centered midwifery model of care. Her vision is for a birthing center with a focus on wholistic women's health as well as birthing care where physicians and midwives bring the best of both worlds together to support healthy moms and healthy babies. She has begun working with Jessica Henman, CNM, CPM, founder of the birth and wellness center in St. Louis, MO. As the vision becomes a reality, plans are rapidly evolving so pleased stay tuned to both websites for updates.

Through her own birthing experiences and caring for women during their reproductive years, Dr. Poppy has become an advocate for reducing unnecessary interventions, reducing the cesarean rate, and supporting vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). As a VBA2C (vaginal birth after two cesareans) mother, she has a desire to see each woman have a safe, BEST BIRTH FOR HER, whether that be a vaginal birth or a medically indicated cesarean. She believes that doula and lactation specialist support should be available to every pregnant woman, however and wherever she gives birth. The birth of a baby is one of the most exciting times in a family's life, a natural process that should not be taken over by fear, disrespect or control. Consideration and respect for the complex interplay of biology, chemistry, endocrinology, emotion, and spirit will allow the birthing process to be a positive experience and a united effort between family and healers from all perspectives.

Dr. Poppy believes strongly in the necessity of supplementation, nutrition and stress management.

She and Dr. Kim Wiseman work together to provide a true complementary approach to wellness. Dr. Kim is a naturopathic physician who is available for consultation in the Poplar Bluff office. Dr. Wiseman's belief as a Naturopath is that our bodies will become healthier when we restore proper nutrition and lifestyle. Our modern day food choices and our toxic environment dramatically decrease the ability of our immune system, digestive system, endocrine system, cardio-vascular system, reproductive system, and nervous system. When we supplement with the nutrition the body absolutely has to have to function in a healthy manner, we restore BALANCE which is incompatible with disease.

Dr. Wiseman does not diagnosis, treat, cure, or mitigate disease. She educates patients about natural supplementation to aid the body in restoring normal function, lifestyle modification, detoxification, and hydrotherapy.
